By Lois Price Spratlen

Join the Movement: Support the next generation of Black Nurses with the Purchase of this Book!

Looking for an inspiring read that will help raise money for the Mary Mahoney Professional Nurses Organization (MMPNO) Endowment? Look no further than Dr. Lois Price-Spratlen’ s book, African American Registered Nurses in Seattle: The Struggle for Opportunity and Success.

As a leader of MMPNO, Dr. Lois Price-Spratlen was instrumental in pioneering endowment funding for financial aid and scholarships to support African American students pursuing careers in professional nursing. As a professor at the University of Washington’s School of Nursing, she worked tirelessly to promote diversity among faculty and students. But Dr. Lois Price-Spratlen’ s contributions to the nursing community didn’t end there. She also served as the first woman, professional nurse, and African American ombudsman at the University of Washington, and she mentored and volunteered with the Association of Advanced Practice Psychiatric Nurses.

Through her book, Dr. Lois-Price Spratlen documents the challenges faced by African American registered nurses in Seattle and the fight for equal opportunity and success in the profession. By purchasing a copy of African American Registered Nurses in Seattle, you’ll not only gain insight into the struggles of the past, but you’ll also be supporting the MMPNO Endowment and helping to ensure a brighter future for the next generation of nursing professionals.
